The Hundreds Hoya “Ben vs. Bobby” Pack
Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 11:32PM
After nearly two years of working on the new Hoya sneaker, The Hundreds have announced that it's on the brink of release and have something special marked for the occasion.
Two contrasting colourways have been created for the sneaker, one designed by Ben and the other by Bobby however who designed which one has yet to be confirmed. It's up to the public to decide which is best.
The competition runs up until Tuesday when the winning silhouette will be announced.
Entries can be made on their Facebook page. In true Hundreds style, there is a fun twist to the competition; the person's shoe with the least amount of votes at Tuesday Noon (PST) which will be counted and announced by Tuesday night has to wear a t-shirt picturing the other's face for a whole week!
The first Hoya (pictured left) is constructed of a premium full-grain nubuck upper with an air mesh 'bootie', lined with premium leather as well as the sockliner. Including high-quality waxed shoelaces, sophisticated folded edges with zero
stitching executed on the overlay panels.
The second Hoya (left) has a safari-print pattern on premium leather overlay pieces, with a silk suede and high-quality canvas upper. Premium die-cut leather cage is used for extra support, with a neoprene air-mesh 'bootie' for better fit and breathability. There’s a rolled-edge executed on the safari-print toe and heel overlay, with a premium pigskin leather sockliner. The shoe is finished off with cork speckles on the rubber outsole.
Only 100 of each Hoya will be produced, emphasized by the
laser-etched individualized numbers on the leather hang tag accompanying rear heel loop. The Hoyas are the first of the “Red Box” shoes, The Hundreds' most limited footwear releases, all lined with a red insole and packaged in a red The Hundreds JAGS™ shoebox. To top it off they also come with a parallel shoe bag and graphic tee.
The pictures clearly show amazing attention to detail and the product descriptions give an idea into the lengthy
thought process behind each model. The shoes have definitely come a long way since the initial sneak peek designs. This post has provided you with all the information I can give you to vote, so make sure you contribute to this great battle.
This latest release highlights why I still regard TH as one of my favourite brands. Ingnoring where the brand has gone (in some people's minds) and what it may represent in certain areas, these two guys have done/continue to do so much for the industry by always moving forward and thinking outside of the box. For me personally, I'ma have to go for the Safari print!
