At the age of twenty six, Bay Area tattooist and skater Devon Blood suffered a near fatal gunshot wound to the head. After spending time in a medically induced coma, he woke to find he had lost precise muscle action in the right side of his body.
The accompanying OffTheWall.TV episode features the story of how Devon switched what was a truly horrific incident into what he now describes as "the best thing that ever
happened to him."
Being right handed, Devon suffered from severe muscle tremors in his right hand, he knew he would never skate again but he was determined that nothing would put an end to his passion for drawing and tattooing. With the attitude that could turn what he couldn't do into what he could do, and against the beliefs of his doctors and therapists, taught himself to use his left hand as if he'd never been right handed. He finishes the micro-
documentary describing the event as a change in creative direction, his work became "a more pissed off heavier style, a lot bloodier ."
The story is incredible and Devon's determination is truly inspirational.
